「望の湯」露天風呂戸狩温泉は、豪雪地帯の飯山市にあり、冬は戸狩スキー場の旅館街になります。日帰り入浴できる共同浴場は2軒あり、以前は通年営業で、定休日が異なるのでどちらかに入れましたが、今は「望の湯」はスキー場営業期間中のみの営業になっています。また、営業時間や定休日がよく変わるのでご注意ください。利用客は、スキーシーズンはスキーヤーが多く、それ以外のシーズンは地元の人がよく利用します。
「望の湯」湯船「望の湯」は、サンシャインゲレンデ下に位置し、鍋倉高原の茶屋池などのハイキングコースから県道を下り、「戸狩温泉」の看板に従って右に入ってすぐの場所にあります。名前の通り、露天風呂から見下ろす田園と千曲川、その向こうの「高井富士」と呼ばれる高社山の眺望が素晴らしいです。下の道や田んぼから丸見えですが、気にせずに立って景色をながめる人が多いです。
「暁の湯」は、「望の湯」より少し下に下ったパノラマゲレンデ下に位置します。源泉も違い、少し高温で成分がより温泉らしいです。
アルカリ度は「望の湯」の方が強く、肌がつるっとする温泉が好きな人には「望の湯」の方がいいかもしれません。
